[[Meals]] [[Meeting]] Minutes (3M)
July 19, 2005
Amy, Pam, Tammy (Liam), Heather, Adi (Divya), Rachel (Talia)

MONKEY: Amy will contact INFOCO to ask for a show-and-tell at of on-line [[Meals]] sign-up at next business meeting. 20 minutes should be enough.
MONKEY: Heather will check with deep cleaner and see how often they do ovens. See if job description needs to be changed.
MONKEY: Amy will re-post kitchen guidelines highlighting how cleaning should be done and also hours kitchen is needed for community.
MONKEY: Rachel to talk to meeting cook about transition between meal and meeting/meeting and clean-up
MONKEY: Tammy to check on brunch help
MONKEY: Rachel remind parents to clean up after their children
MONKEY: Pam and Willa will make sign re: kitchen laundry.

Billing Check-in
All is good.

Adi: on-line sign-up
Now that there is a computer in the CH we can sign-up for meals on-line and that will make
billing easier. Eliminates the book. Sign up anywhere. Sign-up until cook closes
the meal. Then final list goes to billers. Sunward and Touchstone have log-ins
(for specified meals)

Requires cooks to name meals in advance.

Can switches be made on line (cooks and cleaners)? can already be done on
Willie...™s calendar which also has meal descriptions. Need to add organic/dairy/allergens
template to this page.

Adi demonstrates. There is a page for each household and a different page for
each cook who can print it. Could be coordinated with Willie...™s so all staffing
is in same place.

Could also ease burden of meals planner (Diana).

Launch time? Ready as soon as computer is set-up in CH.

Only three households don...™t have computer so most people could do this at home
and techno problems in the common house would be minimal. [[Meals]] billers could
be back-up.

MONKEY: Amy proposes to do show-and-tell at business meeting. We think 20 minutes should
be appropriate.

Start September so as not to mix paper and electronic sign-up.

We ask if Adi can send address (it is already live) to [[Meals]] folks so they can
see it.

Brunch
Tammy announced the gourmet brunch at meeting and on-line. She is looking for blank sign-up sheets. Has printed tickets and will begin selling.

May still need help. If yes, will solicit help.

MONKEY: Tammy to check on brunch help

Ovens
... are disgusting. Should be cleaned 2 times a month... maybe we have just had messy meals. MONKEY: Heather will go to deep cleaner and see how often they do ovens. See if job description
needs to be changed.

Weekend use/abuse
So, how do we inspire people to leave a clean kitchen? Guilt? Fines? Kindness?
Amy argues for transparency in community... several people should talk to the offenders and make it clear that this is a community standard. Don't make it "cop mentality".

Guidelines for use of kitchen and how it should be used and left, is available.
MONKEY: We should re-post it. Highlighting how cleaning should be done and also hours
kitchen is needed for community. (Amy)

MONKEY: Also, tell parents that if kids are in CH, parents need to make sure their stuff
is cleaned up.

[[Meeting]] nights
Issues: easier and quicker to get through meal and start meeting if food is ordered out.
But some people like cooked meals and don...™t like ordered out.

Suggested that if one person wants to cook as opposed to order out, perhaps they should clean, also. This suggestion did not get total support. In discussion we decided that if cook is notified, this would not be a problem in future.

When we switched to the meeting night/order-out plan it was with idea of fewer hours
for cooks and cleaners.

General discussion that time issues is important.

Suggestion that cooked meals use paper plates.

MONKEY: Rachel will check in with the home cooked cook to see how she responds.

Cost of order out is higher.

Since we cook 5 nights a week, if we have one meal that is not uniformly
popular, that is not a big problem.

Potluck idea has not been popular. So we...™ll let that one drop.

Kitchen laundry:
Anonymous tips: We need to have a sign for how to do this in the laundry room.

MONKEY: Pam and Willa will make sign.

In the cooler: Bussing tables: how to get people to buss their own tables after a meal?
