Lots of emails about common house in the past week, thanks for all the work that people are doing.
Guest Room:
Who is the honcho for that room? Turns out to be [[Elph]]. MONKEY: [[Elph]] to go over with measuring tape to determine what kinds of beds. Also: wardrobe, table, nightstand, lamp, alarm clock. Pegs vs wardrobe. People are thinking. [[Elph]] will report back. All donations, there is no budget for this room.
Sitting Room Furniture:
Laura brought some ads with pictures of what she was leaning towards. Talk about pros and cons of having wooden arms. Pro - they will last longer and we can use pillows for comfort. Con - not as comfortable. Laura would like opinions on best 2nd choice. Nobody liked the big over-stuffed ones. Some of the $999 deals are very appealing, and include some end tables.
Mel will go with Laura tomorrow to look at the special deal groups. They will commit if they both like it. Note that we might have to hold it for a week or so.
Appliances:
Fridge - time to order one, now that the cabinets are in. Probably talking around $600. White, standard, freezer on top. MONKEY: Becky will order it. Need to measure space today.
Hobart. Katie says she spec'd a 20 amp, but the one we got is 50amp. This is another reason why we had orginally said kirk should be doing the appliances. But, we're stuck with it. MONKEY: [[Elph]] will look into replacing.
Should we ask them to put in another subbox? Since Sunward always has this problem, should we just have them put in more now? They have to do work for the ovens, should be just piggy back.
Ovens: seems very odd that katie spec'd gas ovens, but yet there are no gas lines for them.
hard to make a decision when we don't know the cost hit. $2200 for electrical for the stoves. restocking fee for hobart would be about $900. Question. How much of this is just labor? We have a licensed electrician. But, we would we have to pay her? Don't feel right to ask her. We probably have enough knowledge and skills to do it ourselves. But, the real question is could we get CofO without having this done.
When do we have to decide by? Right now, they are planning on running the electrical lines for the stoves. We think they are waiting on us for the answer on the dishwasher. As we're thinking about the dishwasher, we should keep in mind the features if we drop down.
MONKEY to [[Rod]]. Ask will they do it, how much additional it would cost to change the amperage on dishwasher if done at the same time.
3rd question is what could we do ourselves.
Threw out $3K as limit to do all electrical problems.
MONKEY to [[Rod]]. Talk with Linda to see if she would be willing to give advice.
MONKEY to [[Elph]], ask Big Georges what would be involved in switching back to gas for ovens.
Water Heater: It was faulty and being replaced. Cost neutral. Our washers do have built in booster heaters.
Office Rental Mary SC: Mary contacted [[Rod]] from Iowa, and is interested in using an office. At this point she is open to sharing it with the community. Concern about not jumping the line. CH is prime leasor of this office. Let's get all the people who want it part time together and see if they can work out a schedule. MONKEY: Becky will get them together to talk committing. Rent could start as early as March 1.
MONKEY TO OURSELVES: next Saturday come up with list of all the work that needs to be done.
Work Day/Painting. Concerns about waiting - think it would be good to get people to sigh up at monday's business mtg. But others feel it would be better to wait. We have shifted to having each room honcho to coordinate when to paint. But there might be items that need to be done before painting. Be sure that you check out caulking needs before painting.
We will benefit from having a work day, absolutely. But room honcho's should feel free to go ahead and work on rooms as they see fit. And some rooms might need special equipment so it would be good to coordinate them.
Suggestion: lets do a straw pole at Monday's mtg to see which of the next 4 saturdays people could do a work day.
Party on the 20th:
Current proposal is to do party on the 20th, Mardi Gras is the next day. Rachael and Heather heading up the party. Main priority is cleaning. [[Rod]] said is that they (phoenix) is planning on cleaning it next week.
DECISION: CH Cmttee is reserving the CH for every saturday, all rooms through end of March to get all the rooms ready.
QUESTION ON MEAL PROGRAM: when will it start and what are the times. Current proposal is meals 6:15 every day we have meals. Would like to begin having meals on march 1st. People wanting to reserve kitchen/dining room would need to give at least 3 hours before/2 after any scheduled meal in order to give time for cooking and cleaning. Lots of discussion about how to establish guidelines for how to make it fair to everyone. Might revisit this. Reminder that direct communication between interested parties is key.
