Painting/Priming:
We are not allowed to be in the common house, they are making a special exception - hence they want us to paint all in one weekend.

$3300 to do all priming ceiling and wall - no caulking if we hire it out. Or, we'll do the whole thing for $12,000. (prime, 2 coats, caulking, etc) We are researching having them do first rough coat as well. Kirk said in that case double of the 33 - $6,600. Painters caulk.

Point of Info, omitted trim around some of windows, savings of $900.

Why do we have to paint before C of O? Main reason is it's easier to paint before all the furniture and outlet covers, etc. Also, once we have CofO, there will be alot of other things we want to do in the CH.

Proposal: That we hire Phoenix to do the priming for $3300. All of CH [[Committee]] agreed.

Do we want them to do a 1st coat of all of our paints? Do we want them to do the full job?

Comments from Amy as former painter - we are headed for disappointing experience if we think we can do it all ourselves. Many of the spaces are challenging. And looking realistically at labor pool. She would be VERY in favor of having them do primer plus 1st coat.

Lots of general agreement, with 1st coat down, we could spend time doing better job for higher priority rooms.

Question - do we even have the money? First deciding if we want to do, then we'll look at our budget and see if we can shuffle money around.

[[Jenny]] had concern about the fact we'll probably have more unplanned expenses.

In Summary: there is some interest in having phoenix do 1st coat and some interest in not. Bottom line everyone is money.

The community did agree to paint when we originally cut the painting. But now, there is not a good sense of how many people will a) be present and b) be willing to work.

Argument for having us do just the finish coat later is that we'll have people with the skills and interest to do it well.

Question? if we're thinking of taking time to do finish coat, why even have phoenix do first coat - why not just live with primer for awhile? Not wanting to burn people out on painting.

Question? could we have phoenix do primer and 1st coat only in key rooms - dining room and kitchen, hallways

MONKEY: [[Elph]] will ask Kirk for quote on priming everything, plus doing 1st coat in Dining Room, Kitchen, Hallways. The common house committee all consensed on this.

Discussion about sitting room - it's highly public, but there's still alot of work to do it.

Money:
Construction committee empowered to make some decisions on their own. [[Rod]] feels like this is completely authorized to make this decision. He feels we should just do this. Any other construction people here to comment? Ted says does go along with that, but there are lots of other committees struggling with budget issues. [[Jenny]] and [[Elph]] from construction also feel that this within the scope of construction to approve this.

Question? What does this do to the painting weekend? It postpones it. We, the CH committee will reschedule it.

BUDGET REDUCTION
We had agreed to take our 2nd contingency item (the upgrade of $7K) off. But, the spreadsheet that the Budget committee sent out looked strange. The spreadsheet also reduced the first item - [[Rod]] confirmed that this was a mistake, the savings for the appliance should have been added. So, the base should be approx $37K, but elph will confirm to Budget.

PAINTING PROCESS STEPS
Heard that we're going to have a big work day. Suggestion that if this is the case, that we provide food and childcare. Comments that we had already agreed to provide food and beverages. So, we just need the childcare. Melisa is suggesting that go members can volunteer to do childcare instead of painting and the parents could pool the expense of hiring our childcare people. Melissa will take this to Membership to see if they will honcho the childcare.

Sunward folks often donate food and beverages - people who can't do the work will often supply muchies.

We are now thinking that the painting workday will be some weekend after the completion of the CH.

MONKEY to [[Rod]]: Ask Pam as part of the caring committee if we can send a card/flowers/something to John - he has ruptured disk/pinched nerve.

MONKEY: elph to send list of room honcho's to list.

REMAINING PAINT COLORS:
Kids room: they are still in process with the kids
Sitting Room: Humble Gold: SW 6380

EXERCISE ROOM
Sharon is trying to find the manual for the universal - which we will need if we try to set it up beforehand, but will also give us the dimensions.

MONKEY to [[Elph]] - choose a backup color for game room.
