* Alternative meeting prep

Icebreaker: What are meals you enjoy?

Full group facilitated session on goals for the meals program - what
they are currently, what we think they should be

3.

In light of those goals that we've discussed/agreed on, how should
that inform meals work - we're under pressure to cut hours, does
having a better understanding of the goals give us clues as to how
best to do that?

4.

Split up into two groups - cooks do the menu planning session with
you, cleaners do a skills share with each other, diners can sit in
on either group or go home early

1.

Break people up into focus groups - Cooks, Cleaners, (skills
building), Diners (suggestions)

2.

Help head cooks plan their meal

3.

Cleaners: lesser-known items around kitchen/meals. Sanitation?

“Light” weeknight meal with less asst. cooks and cleaners?

One regular night other than meeting night being a take out night?

Cleaner hours - historically higher than time it takes, getting
extra for ‘hazard pay’ -- getting too much? Make it more realistic?

Head cook hours, generally getting too little credit, ex. does
not include shopping time.

Table setter position - not really needed, could (should?) be
cut, but there’s strong support from the work committee

Question 1:

The work system is having a hard time giving Meals the number of worker
hours for the current number of meals. Should we consider reducing our
meals to every other Sunday, and coordinating more with Touchstone?


22 Yes, 4 no.


Question 2:

A while back we tried a start time of 5:30, but not everyone is happy
with this early start time. What do you prefer for Sunday common meal?

Will proceed with a plan of dropping a Sunday meal, and more closely
coordinating w/ TS.

Issue: often more than 64 people sign up between the two communities.
Can run experiment for 1 or 2 work seasons and see how people like it
(in both communities).


Eric is starting discussions with the Touchstone Meals committee, and
will propose a schedule like 2&4 Sun is GO, 1&3 is TS etc. to keep it
predictable.


* Work Issues

Meals scheduler job is more work than anticipated, because of
2-sub-seasons. Upping from 2 hrs a month to 3.


* Monkeys

Tammy will contact Work Committee to get data on shortages in meals labor

Tammy will connect w/ Mary King and work on Alt Meeting Plan

Gail will work on current Goals Document(s) and distribute at Alt.
