4 Artwork from Thomas
5 Defib battery replacement

Monkey: Katie will collect the 3 extinguishers and take them to Spears on a
weekday.
Monkey: Elph will take a look at the defib and give a stab at getting the
batteries and pad ordered and document the process.
Monkey: Elph will ask Erik about storing hot tub chemicals outdoors. (Ran
into Erik outside the CH and he says freezing is not an issue and a
cabinet, off the ground, would be great.) So next step is spec’ing a
cabinet, checking back with details, then ordering.
DECISION: Thomas will get the photograph of the common house with lightning
cloud over it printed on metal paper on styrene. $200.
1 On the subject of a security camera.
We had decided to start with one camera in one hallway and then when we
have an incident in the Common House we would look at the footage to find
out who was involved in the incident so that we could start a discussion
with them to help resolve the problem.
Yi Miau represented another view from members of the community in regards
to a privacy concern of having the camera in the common house. They are
concerned about what circumstances we would review the camera footage and
who would have access. At the far extreme, some people don’t want to know
who is doing things and would prefer we not use a camera to find out.
Yi Miau asks if we could have a clear engagement or escalation policy for
when we would delve into the camera to resolve problems. With real life
examples. And or limitations on viewing and access. Fire certainly, theft,
damage, death of fish, knives/liquor/condoms in kids room (maybe), smoking
(certainly because of fire concerns) would be reasons to have a
conversation with someone. Most of the Common House committee agreed that
it would be the group that would be responsible for viewing the video
footage and engaging with whoever is misusing the Common House.
In discussion, one member of the Common House committee felt like Conflict
Resolution Committee (CRC) should be the only group that looks at video
footage and engages with the people misusing the Common House. The rest of
the committee disagreed and pointed out the communication pathway agreement
and how the CRC is not involved until step 3 and further we have been doing
this work already and there are benefits to having the committee
responsible for the Common House building rapport with people who violate
the rules of the Common House- done so in a positive way that allows for
long term relationship - as we have been doing for a few years now.
Yi Miau says CRC would like to have an opportunity for community discussion
about teens. First with parents, then in some way engaging the teens.
Side discussion briefly talked about how we do not have No Smoking sign in
the Common House. We should do so. (Done,)
2 Fire dept does not like hot tub chemicals stored in exercise room
When the fire dept was called to look into the smoke in the exercise room
they pointed out that they did not like that we have the hot tub chemicals
sitting out.
The group wondered, why? But taking it on face value it may be better to
store the chemicals in a cabinet. Maybe outside near the hot tub if it is
ok for them to freeze?
Monkey: Elph will ask Erik. (Ran into Erik outside the CH and he says
freezing is not an issue and a cabinet, off the ground, would be great.) So
next step is spec’ing a cabinet, checking back with details, then ordering.
Failing that we could look at a closed cabinet indoors.
3 We can not store items in furnace closets
This is a clear fire hazard pointed out by the fire dept in their recent
visit. Non-negotiable. Nothing can be stored next to the furnace.
The west hallway furnace closet is now empty of the broken steam cleaner.
The kids room furnace closet is too small to store anything in and too hard
to get into anyway. The bathroom furnace closet needs to be clear - we need
more storage in the CH! What about reworking the entryway coat closet?
Using the other side of the hallway for coat hooks? What about enclosing
the front pagoda and making it into a big mud room? Share ideas with Ted
and get a practical perspective back at the next meeting.
4 Artwork from Thomas
Last week we approved a purchase of the photo of the CH with lightning
cloud above it. Thomas showed us the different mounting and material
options to consider.
DECISION: Thomas will get it printed on metal paper on styrene. $200.
5 Defibrillator battery replacement
Katie has had difficulty getting the defib battery (and pads) replaced
because the door does not easily open.
Monkey: Elph will take a look and give a stab at getting them ordered and
document the process.
6. Discuss fire emergency exit strategy proposal.
Jillian wrote in the context of a recent Talk issue about fire exit
strategies: “Perhaps CH cmtee could designate a rendez-vous spot, for
people to meet when there was an emergency in the common house and people
had to evacuate. (The hot box out on the CH south lawn?)“
The thought was to have people gather near the far hotbox on the CH lawn
(not the one surrounded by vegetation close to the CH) to be accounted for
in the case of a fire in the CH.
The cmtee felt like this was reasonable. Better than gathering on the north
piazza as it would be more open and visible and where the action is. What
are next steps on this?
7 Maintenance List
The F21 and SUDS error on the far right washer has been fixed by locating
and cleaning the lint trap.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QrNPQs28FhaOPPlSwSVWX1h71xtitjhm
All washers have lint traps that need to be cleaned once a month. The
bottom cover on the far right washer has been reattached with magnets
instead of screws to make it easier to remove.
New white board in kitchen - Willie has gotten it hung
Ants in kitchen - Ted cannot locate - if anyone sees them please report to
CH at gocoho.org with where you have seen them so that bait traps can be
placed strategically.
Fire extinguisher inspection. March is the month that the fire
extinguishers need to be inspected. They need to be take to Spears down on
Aprill drive. It’s a small fee to inspect. There are three extinguishers
with tags that need to be taken.
Monkey: Katie will collect the 3 extinguishers and take them to Spears on a
weekday.
Chairs needing repair. There are chairs that need upholstery repair that
Nancy needs some help with. Looking for an assistant!
