Minutes:
FREEZER PROBLEMThe CH freezer door seems to need repair for not closing properly. Also
needs a defrost beforehand. Eric will email the CH committee about the
problem with the CH freezer.
MEALS GOALS
Meals goals were under head cook job description. We would like to have a
Mission Statement for the Meals Committee as a separate document. We
reviewed a draft from Gail. Catherine will add in the Meals section from
the Member Handbook to the draft. Everyone on Meals committee
MEALS BILLING ELECTRONIC STREAMLINING
Eric will talk with Meals Billers (Kathy and Becky H.) about coming to the
next meeting to discuss this agenda item and the meals receipts agenda
item.
CURRENT PROCEDURE FOR MEALS RECEIPTS SUBMISSION AT OR NEAR END OF MONTH
We would like people to always have at least a week to turn in their
receipts. We discussed possible ways to make the policy less punitive,
possibly rolling unbilled meals into the next billing cycle. We need to
make sure there isn’t a technical barrier to carrying a meal over to the
following month. The problem of receipts not being turned in by the end of
the month doesn’t happen often. If it becomes a problem for an individual
or at the community level, we will handle it then.
SUGGESTION TO SET UP SHOPPER ACCOUNTS THROUGH UMICH STUDENT BUYER CLUB
Looking at the information on the website, it doesn’t look to us that the
Student Buyer club structure will work well with our system, and we already
have a GFS account. Catherine will talk to Patti about our discussion and
also ask for some further information.
Eric will discuss possibly rolling unbilled meals into the next billing
cycle with Tom S. and the meals billers.
GRILL SAFETY
There have been a number of grease fires with the grills lately. We
discussed ways to help people remember about cleaning the grills and
checking/emptying the grease traps.
We could use a sign that says “Check the Grease Trap Before You Start the
Grill”
Eric will talk to Dale about possibly making new grill signs.
Catherine will send email to cooks and cleaners about grill cleaning/
checking grease trap.
NEW MONKEYS
Eric will email the CH committee about the problem with the CH freezer.
DONE Catherine will add in the Meals section from the Member Handbook to
the draft.
All will edit the Goals and Values document
Eric will talk with Meals Billers (Kathy and Becky H.) about coming to the
next meeting to discuss this agenda item and the meals receipts agenda
item.
Tammy will add in Meals norms/kitchen use norms into the Goals and Values
google document
Gail will grant editing access to Meals Committee members
Eric will discuss possibly rolling unbilled meals into the next billing
cycle with Tom S. and the meals billers.
Catherine will talk to Patti about our discussion and also ask for some
further information.
Tammy will check with Patti about the Cuisinart bowl, and will pursue
finding a new one if Patti isn’t already doing it.
Eric will talk to Dale about possibly making new grill signs.

streamlined

We can ask Willie to come and talk with us in September about optimizing
the scheduling process for the meals work.
