2. Discuss Huron Valley Swim Club idea from Katie
Katie wondered whether it would be possible to get permission to walk
on the Swim Club property. Recalling that Willie and others had seen
hunters on the property, she thought that GO strollers might be able
to provide HVSC with some watchful eyes on the grounds, to let them
know of intruding hunters or other problems. Katie also felt that we
have demonstrated that we are good, respectful neighbors.
Amy remembered hearing that there were a number of attorneys on their
board who worried about liability, and that early in GO’s occupancy
they had threatened to put up a fence if we kept walking over there.
Willie remembered that they thought that people were sneaking into
their pool. Mel worried that if we offered to help watch out for
hunters, it might make them even more inclined to build a fence – she
was not in favor of initiating a conversation at all. There was
discussion about the noise of their pool parties. Judith thinks any
conversation should start with the noise issue. Everyone agreed that
a good next step would be to talk with Rowena Conahan at Sunward, who
has been a member for about 10 years.
MONKEY: Katie will contact Rowena Conahan to get her sense of things.
3. Discuss agenda for Tri-Community Steering Summit at GO on
Saturday, April 26 from 9-10:30
New Agenda items:
- Financial status of Touchstone. The township considers us one
development. Are there any financial implications for us? We’ve
heard they’ve given up on building a Common House, and might build out
the unit they’ve been using as a Common House. Will this mean they
would like to share more of GO’s facilities? How many units have been
sold? Talk of 6 or 7 unsold.
- Kostova’s cat still a problem. Is there a Township regulation?
Make sure no one is feeding her here.
MONKEY: Nancy will call Township to ask what the regulations are for
cats.
MONKEY: Amy will resend the Tricommunity meeting minutes so everyone
can review them, especially the Monkeys.
MONKEY: Gail will provide food for the meeting. Amy and Mel will set
up and make coffee. Nancy may also make a pot of coffee.
4. Monkey review – none from last meeting.
5. Committee Go-Round
Grounds - Sandbox committee has been meeting and getting lots of
input. There are four ideas for locations and designs. There will be
another sandbox meeting either Monday or Tuesday. The east end shade
structure has been designed but final approval from people who live in
the area is still needed. The sandbox will be done sooner as it has
higher priority. Asphalt pros need to come out to look at some big
cracks. Talking about trees. Now that the weather is good, Katie
will have concrete contractors come out to give final quotes on
repairing unit sidewalks. Looking at outdoor furniture.
CH – Met some time ago. Sarah does not want to continue as convener.
Changed some of the cleaning job configurations. Someone is looking
into cost of carpeting. Kids room is first in line, needs more padding.
Meals – Discussed assigned roles, and shortage of head and assistant
cooks for weekdays. Will see how next survey goes and respond then if
it’s necessary to reduce the number of common meals. Amy commented
that the Work Com is planning to have a Job Fair, and that Meals could
look for volunteers make up for a few meals if they have to be
cancelled. For instance, someone might be willing to be a head cook
once a season, but not the four times required for a full job.
F&L – no report
Work – Work survey deadline is tonight. Allocation Party is Saturday,
4/12 at 3 pm at AmyH’s house. Community work days are Saturdays, May
3 and 17.
Membership – Reduced hours for some jobs, added a position: an Event
Coordinator to work with the Marketing outreach position.
Process – Glad to get Alternative Meeting proposal passed. Now moving
on. Two items in the docket: giving input at meetings when you can’t
be there, and the non-GO kids issue. Meeting on Weds pm.
Bldgs – Knox boxes are here, and they are heavy! Still working on
many of the same projects.
6. Matters arising
Judith suggested that we have a first aid training session. For
example, how do you recognize a stroke? What should you do if you see
someone choking or having an asthma attack? Etc. We think this is a
Membership Committee item.
MONKEY: Judith will talk with Emily.
7. Next meeting: May 4th at 5 pm.
