MEALS’ OPERATION AND SAVING ACCOUNTS/PAYPAL/PURCHASE W. BILLER

Kathy sent a report via email.

Account Balances: If all head cooks cashed their checks today, we would
have a balance of about $1,800 in the Meals checking account - that is
excellent! We have a balance of $500 in the savings account.

Discussion: we may need a new vegetarian grill. Eric will look at the
veggie grill and determine whether it needs to be replaced. If needed,
Tammy will purchase a new vegetarian grill.

We also discussed the need for community education about cleaning the
grill. We’ll brainstorm ideas at our next meeting.

Yi-Miau will add setting up the grills to the Spring workday spreadsheet.
Eick will be available to answers questions concerning deep cleaning tasks.

PayPal is going really well. I think more people are paying their bills in
a timely manner now that we have that option - especially diners from TS,
who are already used to using PayPal for their meals bills (and love not
having to walk a check over to GO, while having to remember our door code).

Minor PayPal problems:
1) I thought I would receive an email whenever a PayPal payment was
received, but apparently I was wrong. So the billers need to remember to
check frequently and enter those payments into Gather just as often as
checks - we want to avoid diners going over their meal limits and not being
able to sign up for meals.
2) Sometimes it is a challenge recognizing a name in PayPal because often
names don't come in the way I'm used to seeing them. The most challenging
one so far: a large payment came in from "Inspiring Conversations LLC". By
going down the list of Gather accounts, I was able to match up the amount
with Marta's account, and give her credit!
3) For Becky H: I'm working on a new PayPal log for us, and PayPal
procedures/instructions. Almost there!

MEALS SURVEY RESULTS
50 people responded to the survey, some people replied for whole household.
About 70 people are represented.

57% omnivores

20% “fleixtarians” (mostly veg but occasionally have meat or fish)

20% are vegetarian

Tammy will send Catherine a summary of the meals survey results.

We discussed the need to have a location where the values about GO Meals
are easy to find.

SCHEDULING UPDATES
Usually, after work assignments are done, any meals shifts that are not
assigned are sent to Willie and he will ask for volunteers. A member with
many meals shifts is moving out so we talked about the idea of canceling
some meals vs not cancelling. We might be able to salvage a couple of
meals with volunteers but will probably need to cancel a couple of meals.
Preference of the committee is to cancel meals during July and August if we
need to do it. Meals Committee could organize potlucks, grilling on those
nights when a meal is cancelled.

We also have a couple of Sunday head cooks shifts that need to be filled by
volunteers.

We may have new workers by August, so we’d like Willie to ask for
volunteers again before that section of the work season. However, if the
meals need to be cancelled, Willie should feel free to go ahead and do it.

We can ask Willie to come and talk with us in September about optimizing
the scheduling process for meal shifts.
