GO Finance & Legal Committee

Minutes of 8-8-17 Meeting


Present: Debbi, Becky G., Amy


1. CH Special Assessments


a. Prep to bring proposal back on 8/21. Debbi will send it to us to
review and then to the community a few days before the meeting.

b. Draft letters and liens. Becky H. sent edits back to attorney Rick
Delonis.


2. Insurance


Question about coverage if one of our truck drivers has an accident when
under the influence. For a personal policy, you’re covered (Debbi looked it
up). Don’t know about commercial policy. Amy will ask Rod to ask George.


3. Bookkeeping


a. Draft 2016 audit and tax return – A few questions came up about the
audit. Becky will send them to the auditors. Once answered
satisfactorily, she will give them the green light to finalize the audit,
and set a date for them to come talk at a GO meeting. Becky will also tell
them that the tax return is ok to file.

b. Our bookkeepers contacted a household that had crossed over $1000
threshold for arrears. They will pay off by the end of the month.


4. Master Deed Changes


a. We have two special project workers lined up for fall, Patti and Elph.
Debbi will touch base with them. Their hours will be used in a bunch at the
end of the season, not spread out. We’re waiting on the budget timeline to
plot out the Master Deed presentations.

5. Other Business


a. Pet issue: Amy will circle back to clarify that the purpose of the
meeting is to communicate why there is a liability issue, not to mediate
the conflict between households. Then she’ll set up the meeting.

b. Michigan Association of Condominium Association membership: Debbi
signed up for a 90-day free trial; what’s there is useful, but there isn’t
a whole lot of content. She will probably cancel at 90 days.

c. Draft Truck Policy Proposal: Now that we are settled with new truck
insurance, Gayle Turner and Amy updated the most recent draft of the Truck
Policy. We briefly discussed. Amy requested time at the 8/21 meeting to
bring it forward for discussion.

d. Sign at entrance to Parkland Plaza – new item from U-M. Debbi
will take on the

coordination of this.

e. We will ask Mary to send out the budget schedule so committees have
time to prepare.
