Minutes:
2. MONKEYS and COOLER ITEMS--------------------
From previous meetings
COOLER: bringing forward a pre-proposal about giving feedback to
community meetings when you can't come to the meeting
COOLER for Alt Meeting topic: Discussion about HOW we talk about
things. It sounds like this fall we already have topics though, but
we should keep it in the cooler.
COOLER for Alt Meeting topic: revisit our vision statement
COOLER for Alt Meeting Topic: Strategic planning discussion. The
teacher, Grace Bogs, that Rod and Melisa had for strategic planning
said she would do a 2-hour workshop for free, might want to contact
her for a spring alt meeting.
----------------------
From previous meetings:
Re-MONKEY: Jillian will resend out the infoco pre-proposal for how to
give feedback to community meetings if you can't be present.
Re-MONKEY: Jillian will check in with Alicia about the August and
June minutes to see if those can be sent out soon.
Re-MONKEY: Jillian will check in with Alicia about if she is
willing/planning to bring forward the discussion about non-GO kids in
the common house to a community meeting.
---------------------
MONKEYS from this meeting 10/29/07:
MONKEY: Patti will check in with Megan about her alternative meeting on 12/5.
MONKEY: Jillian will send out an email to talk to encourage people to
think about being alt meeting leaders for the next work season -
remember all those cool ideas community members had? Now folks need
to step up to make them happen, and infoco can help.

4. Facilitation and work credit
How can we do a better work credit system for facilitation and for
alternative meeting leaders.
Facilitation credit is to cover infoco meetings, facilitator
debriefs, and any additional planning work for and then facilitating
community meetings.
Alternative meeting leader credit needs to cover some prep and
running one event.
We need to have enough people involved to support infoco and the
agenda planning process. Its a bit thin right now.
Facilitation currently has 16 hours of work credit per month (its 8
people getting 2 credits per month), 192 hours total for the year.
Idea - to have a pool of year-long facilitators, to cover the one
regular community meeting a month, to come to infoco meetings and
facilitator debriefs, and to support alternative meetings when they
need help. Would make for more people to support infoco, more
flexibility for swapping who facilitates when (no content
involvement).
Idea to call those heading up an alternative meetings something else
than facilitators. Alternative meeting leaders?
Alt meeting leaders could stay on the 4 month system, and the idea
was they would just do one meeting in the 4 month work season, and
they do not tend to do Infoco meetings, or facilitator debriefs. So
if we had 4 people, at 0.25 hours/month each = 1 hour of credit total
for 4 months, with 4 people doing this for three work seasons = 12
hours/year. But is that too little? Perhaps it should be 0.5
hours/month, for 2 hours total to cover their event.
So for year-long facilitator pool, how many people and how many hours
per month? If we had 12 facilitators for a year-long assignment,
getting 1-1/4 hours/month = 15 hours/year = 180 hours. Those 12 could
work amongst themselves to figure out who should facilitate when, and
can better support Infoco meetings and facilitator debriefs (not that
everyone will be at every single one).
That would keep us at our 192 total, or if we raised the alternative
meeting leader amount to 24 hours, that would add 12 hours to the
total, for 204.
Do we have 12 people who might be interested in a year-long pool?
Seems like we might. Or is 12 people too many? On the one hand, we
only have 12 regular community meetings a year now, IF people want to
continue with alternative meetings past May 2008. So 24 regular
community meeting facilitation slots total for the year. However,
some alternative meetings may want facilitator help to run them, so
it seems like it'd be wise to have labor to help with those as
well... And people may not be willing to sign up for a year of being
involved with facilitation, unless there's a large enough group to
help cover everything...8 facils? 10? 12? Keep 12 and lower the
credit to 1 a month? Hmm.
Hopefully all infocoers will read these minutes and respond with
their thoughts.
People were enthusiastic about these alternative meetings and had all
kinds of groovy ideas about what they could be, but, people need to
step up to make them happen in the next work term.
MONKEY: Jillian will send out an email to talk to encourage people to
think about being alt meeting leaders for the next work season - all
those cool ideas community members had? Now folks need to step up to
make them happen, and infoco can help.
5. Next community meeting, 11/7
This meeting is to do some leadup to the 11/10 training day, though
it will also be applicable for those who can't make the training day.
We had a long discussion about various options, based on the survey
feedback. Patti and Alicia and Diana are continuing to work on it.
Came up with some interesting possibilities. A likely topic is social
mapping. (As for most communities, we're a small yet large,
close-knit yet disparate group! And there's a feeling there shouldn't
be an in-group out-group situation but the reality is that people
feel these boundaries all the time.)
6. Next infoco meeting 11/13 (2nd Tues).
