3. Email etiquette review
Went over Tevah’s email asking for feedback on email etiquette for new
member packet, added the sentence consensed on in July 2016, Sarah emailed
back to Tevah and Mary.
4. Work cmtee alt meeting
Email from Tevah re March 1, 2017 alt meeting about work system. Tevah came
by our meeting tonight to discuss. On 3/1/17 work wants to do two things:
1. Deliver a work report for recent seasons. 2. Discussion over the years
about a work budget, and work hours per month being higher than desired by
some. Some discussion when new jobs were created, about what’s appropriate
or not for new jobs. Surveys of the community about the work system over
the years; idea to have a work budget process like the financial budget
process but this has not been popular overall. What if we used the
alternative meeting to actually work on a work budget idea, to explore it.
Curiosity approach - approach it as, how might it work, just as a thought
experiment. It might not be something the community wants to implement, but
we can still explore it and how it could work. Here’s an idea - take last
summer’s numbers, say here’s the budget, every cmtee submit based on last
year’s numbers, and discuss, and see where cmtees want to deviate or not,
as an experiment/exercise.
Historically - each time they did a survey of the whole community, the
community is satisfied overall with it the way the work system is. However
work cmtee hears a lot from those who are unhappy and deals with
challenges. Around the allocation, there are always people you can’t assign
jobs to. Challenging. Report from work cmtee, and what you’re discovered
over time. Brainstorm of all possible jobs it would be nice to have done.
Discuss here’s how our system works. These are some of the challenges of
our system (eg, people who are willing to do work but we don’t have jobs
they can do). Is there a way to tweak the system - adding more jobs? Is
there a different system that would not create this dilemma?
If you came to cmtees and said, we have a problem we’ve identified - there
are not enough jobs that are un-scheduled for example - or of a certain
skill level - then the cmtees can create them. CH has things that we know
are not getting done. We don’t currently have that level of feedback to
cmtees from work. Every cmtee has a bit of a different approach.
Work cmtee is going to meet this Sunday at noon. Patti is able to be there,
yay Patti!
5. Prep for meeting time change proposal info/discussion
Went over Sarah’s draft - thanks for writing this up Sarah! We’ve been
doing alternative meetings since 2007. Patti will present on 2/20/17, Mary
King will facilitate that part.
6. Skills and thrills next steps - ran out of time.
7. Next Process meetings
Thurs 3/2/17, 7 to 9pm - go back over results of January community meeting
and assign logistics (breakfast, lunch, snacks, Saturday night event, etc)
Sunday 3/12/17, 1 to 3pm - invite Jenny Tubbs to this one
