Minutes:
*Attendance:* Yi-Miau, Mary & Kathy*Meal's Balance and Possible Purchases:*
Kathy reported that the checkbook balance is approximately $2,600. *She is
asking Head Cooks to please cash any outstanding meal reimbursement
checks. *
We have enough $ for a new grill purchase in the spring.
*New Job to Monitoring Food Safety:*
Meals would like to create a new job for the Summer work season to enhance
food safety in the CH kitchen. The new Food Safety Monitor's job
responsibilities would be to monitor, inventory and label refrigerated and
other food, and communicate any "pantry" needs to the Shopper. The initial
work would also include a little research and creating a protocol - to
bring to the Meal's Committee for approval. We estimate it would be
assigned 1 hour/mo.
*Sorting and Organizing Cuisinart Parts:*
A big thanks to Rachel for donating a storage bin for our Cuisinart blades.
Mary will store the correct parts in the new bin and throw away any pieces
that don't fit our current food processors.
*Quiet Seating Trial Impressions and Evaluation:*
The Table Setter set up a quiet table for one trial meal and no one used it.
It took the Table Setter more than the 30 mins allotted for that job to add
the additional table and settings. Meals is recommending that if anyone
feels compelled to set up a quiet table either before or during a meal
(when it gets really noisy in the dining room) that they enlist whatever
help needed to make it happen. But, it won't be a part of a standard meal
set up.
*Reducing Meal Cleaner Job Hours:*
Meals has received some great feedback from the community that the current
work allotment of 1.5 hours for a cleaning is currently appropriate for the
job. Meals plans to ask for help and problem-solving from the community at
a future business meeting as we try and respond to requests to reduce the
overall number of work hours designated for the meal's program.
*Creative Sunday Meal:*
Mary discussed her experience sharing a cooking shift with TS. It was a
lot of fun and drew many more diners than had originally signed up for
either meal. She will try and do it again if there is a low sign-up number
for a Sunday meal.
*Review Meal's Committee Mandate (2012-11-19 version):*
Yi-Miau distributed a paper copy of the Meal's Mandate and asked members to
review it in advance of our next Meals meeting. She will also upload it
as a Google doc for comments. Please be prepared to discuss the mandate at
our January meeting.
*Next Meeting Date: Monday, January 9, 29017 at 7pm*
