2. MONKEYS:
ONGOING MONKEY:
Bringing chocolate for the two community meetings a month:
Jillian just stocked up on meeting chocolate at Trader Joe's so we're set
for a while.
Re-MONKEY: Mary and Sarah to share their handouts and powerpoint to the
Process cmtee google folder in drive. (See 3/19/16 Process minutes)
Re-MONKEY: Discuss the topic of having a Martyrs and Slackers conversation
at GO about work. (Was going to happen at the June facil brunch but they
ended up covering other topics.)
Re-MONKEY: Process should ask the community about community meeting times
and if First Wed Third Mon at 6:30 is still what people want. And, find out
why else don't they come to meetings, even though its a responsibility of
all who live here. Did not flesh out how - survey? Cmty meeting?
Re-MONKEY: Sarah will check in with Willie and Tom about the MESS contacts
database and what fields will be in it.
COOLER: Once the GO contacts database is in MESS, Sarah may enter the info
we gathered in early 2016 about how members want to be contacted, in to the
MESS system.
Re-MONKEY: Sarah to propose a parking followup discussion for an upcoming
meeting.
MONKEY: Patti and Susan will see if they can find two people for the next
meeting, one who will skype in to the other's device (laptop or ipad etc)
MONKEY: Jillian will follow up with F&L to find out what they've learned
about state condo law and this input in absentia issue.
MONKEY: Put Skills and Thrills on a September agenda.
3. Debrief on the cmty meeting discussion about Input in Absentia
Read through the minutes.
Is it really possible that a single owner can block a condo association
decision in State of Michigan condo law no matter what kind of decision?
Not just majority vote?
Waiting to hear back from F&L.
Two big threads of discussion.
One big one about feeling that it would change the dynamics and the feel of
the meeting, don't want to encourage it happening. But some feel we can't
"outlaw" it. Some feel its not effective in large group, others feel it
works fine in large group. Next meeting line up two people willing to skype
just to try it.
The other thread about legality, what exactly does condo law say about when
each and every owner needs to be allowed to stop a decisions going forward.
After the meeting, a suggestion, if we do allow skyping, to make it a
time-limited thing - eg, you can only skype in for up to one year after you
no longer live here, meant to meet a need for people who are gone
temporarily but still very connected to GO and know most people etc.
We have to give a way for people to give input no matter how long its been
since they lived here if they're still an owner - that's the "in writing"
part. Is it really worth it to complicate things by adding a time-limited
skype ability in to the agreement.
MONKEY: Patti and Susan will see if they can find two people for the next
meeting, one who will skype in to the other's device (laptop or ipad etc)
MONKEY: Jillian will follow up with F&L to find out what they've learned
about state condo law and this input in absentia issue.
4. Skills and Thrills
In the past we've talked about people wanting to make progress on Work
Cmtee stuff. I think we have to wait until September to discuss - August
meeting will be too quiet.
MONKEY: Put Skills and Thrills on a September agenda.
I wonder if CH kitchen will want the time?
A lot of people talked about the home maintenance item we did that time.
5. Next Meeting
We had scheduled Aug 25, let's leave that on our calendar, but if that does
not work for Sarah, 8/30 is also good, or 9/1 if that's the only thing
available.
(Patti is much more available before Labor Day weekend.)
