2. MONKEYS:
ONGOING MONKEY:
Bringing chocolate for the two community meetings a month:
Jillian is about out of chocolate so will try to get to Trader Joe's before
12/21.
COOLER: We could bring up at a community meeting, the idea of if we should
talk about how we each want to be contacted on community business, and see
what people think about it. So many options now for how to be contacted,
and some people seem to only use certain modes, would be good to know.
Maybe add it to contact sheet?
COOLER: Elph says he's willing to be assigned hours to create some process
or facilitation training materials.
DONE: Patti will look for the email etiquette docs that she has.
Re-MONKEY for December?: Jillian could present the email etiquette policy
from 2009 and have time for discussion. Jillian could let F&L know this is
happening if it gets on the agenda
MONKEY: Jillian will ask Elph who the Zingerman's retreat facilitator is.
Fran?
DONE: Jillian will look up the minutes and write up a draft about the
skills and thrills proposal.
DONE: Jillian will let Helen know and will present a proposal for 2016
skills and thrills for a cmty parking discussion, if its possible on the
agenda.
DONE: Jillian will send out a reminder, INFOCO brunch is 11/22
DONE: Jillian will reply to Sarah and Mary about 12/6 intro to facil
session.
DONE: Jillian will check Process cmtee job description, to make sure it
says that if you're on Process cmtee you should be attending community
meetings - not all of them of course, but the intent is you are there
frequently and that you are interested in keeping up with what the
community is discussing.
MONKEY: Jillian to send out infoco and process minutes
MONKEY: Next Process meeting, discuss clarifying in our written agreements
about blocking and standing aside in writing
MONKEY: Jillian will distribute scheduling worksheets for facilitation and
minutes taking.
MONKEY: Jillian will copy flier and put in boxes.
MONKEY: Jillian will send out an email to Infoco group, to ask if a group
of us would be willing to be on a planning crew to figure out agenda for an
empowered 2-hour parking discussion.
MONKEY: On 12/21 we'd make a one-meeting-decision proposal to have a 2 hour
empowered community meeting 1/31 for our first parking discussion and
potential decisions. Who will present?
MONKEY: Jillian will check in with Amy H about sharing the work cmtee data.
MONKEY: Jillian will email Sarah to see if Thurs 1/7 can work for next
Process meeting.
3. Next work season scheduling
MONKEY: Jillian will distribute scheduling worksheets for facilitation and
minutes taking.
4. Debrief, Intro to facil session on December 6, led by Sarah and Mary,
and February training
There were a lot of people, 25 maybe, from all three communities. Was great
to have that tri-community presence. Seemed like there were some who didn't
necessarily want to be facilitators but wanted to learn how to support
facilitators. They walked through some basic info, did a role play with
delegated roles like stacker, time keeper, etc. People really enjoyed role
plays, Mary and Sarah did a great job.
They talked about the Feb training - four-hour intro to facilitation, and
then do a four-hour more advanced training, like working with concerns,
emotion, reframing. Seems like some people were reassured that they could
try facilitation, esp with cofacilitation model.
The trainings will be: Feb 6, 10am-2pm, and Feb 7, 1pm-5pm
Will need to clarify food and childcare.
GO has committed to spending up to $500 on this in 2016. Other communities
are also willing to put in money. A bit unclear what the expectations are
of attendees, do they have to commit to anything? We're inclined to leave
it wide open, to encourage as many people as possible to go - even if you
don't facilitate, you understand the process better, know what they're
doing and why.
Patti experienced Mary and Sarah's plan for the Feb training day 1, since
Sarah and Mary did it for the ICC last weekend, was excellent.
Patti amazed at how much overlap there is in issues we have at GO and the
issues they have at ICC - pets, work accountability, parking! Amazing.
Would be great to have more interaction with ICC and cohousing.
MONKEY: Jillian will copy flier and put in boxes.
5. Next Community Meeting
I assume we will have a community meeting, F&L has an item to return for
decision.
I've lost the thread a bit of what we were supposed to do with the email
etiquette thing.
Discussion at the November community meeting about having an internal
discussion about parking, internally facilitated, not paying for bringing
in an outside person. Seems like parking has eased up a little since then
but its not snowy so people are more willing to park along street. It'd be
good to talk about the lower parking lot, get agreements on what the
community wants for that space. If we want to have a prolongued conversion
in the winter we need to start acting on this.
Maybe we could come up with a group of us willing to plan and facilitate a
parking meeting. Like the days of the Laird training where we work on it
together - make it more fun. Conceivable we could meet in late January as
a community.
Could say its a 2 hour session, make it empowered, see how far we get,
surface concerns, discuss, may need to then come back to a second meeting,
delegate some tasks before then.
Could potentially do one at the very end of January (1/31?), and then a
"continued" in another month if need be.
MONKEY: Jillian will send out an email to Infoco group, to ask if a group
of us would be willing to be on a planning crew to figure it out.
MONKEY: On 12/21 we'd make a one-meeting-decision proposal to have a 2 hour
empowered community meeting 1/31 for our first parking discussion and
potential decisions. Who will present?
Do we have to ask GO permission to do this, or can we just schedule it?
Hosting a conversation I don't think we have to ask. But in order to be
able to make any decisions as an empowered gathering, do we need to ask for
permission? Seems like yes.
Pet discussion came up on email. So it may be Process cmtee or others will
just have to put reviewing the community agreement on a community agenda at
some point soon.
And there's the Work question. Current or recent work cmtee members were
the ones who felt strongest concerns. There was unpublished data from a
whole-community work survey, Work ctmee said they'd remove names and then
share it. Would be good to have that go out before we do anything else.
MONKEY: Jillian will check in with Amy H about sharing the work cmtee data.
6. Next Process cmtee meeting:
Process has been meeting on 2nd Tuesdays but Sarah can't meet on Tuesdays.
Patti's schedule is tough, she has lots of evening meetings on Mon, Wed,
Thurs but had held Tuesdays open.
The first week of January we could meet on Thursday, 1/7, since Patti knows
she does not have a meeting 1/7, 7pm. Meet at Jillian's house since sitting
room is already booked.
MONKEY: Jillian will email Sarah to see if Thurs 1/7 can work for next
Process meeting.
