MONKEYS:
ONGOING MONKEY:
Bringing chocolate for the two community meetings a month:
May: Elisha
June: Jillian
July: Vasi (check with Jillian first, still has chocolate from June)
August: Jillian
COOLER: We could bring up at a community meeting, the idea of if we should
talk about how we each want to be contacted on community business, and see
what people think about it. So many options now for how to be contacted,
and some people seem to only use certain modes, would be good to know.
Maybe add it to contact sheet?
DONE: Jillian followed up with Mary and Sarah to let them know they could
ask for some of the member resources money for the cohousing conference.
MONKEY: Vasi will see if those on CRC will continue, crc at gocoho.org.
MONKEY: Jillian will contact all facilitators.
MONKEY: Jillian will check in with agenda planner
MONKEY: Jillian to preassign Mary and Sarah the September alt meeting.
MONKEY: Vasi will ask Catherine if she will continue as BOA content enterer.
MONKEY: Jillian will check in with Gail.
MONKEY: all look at 7/20 refreshing policy moment and who could take these
next steps.
MONKEY: Jillian will email facilitators too about the August 5th meeting,
see if we can perhaps make a get-together happen to talk about what we can
do on August 5.
MONKEY: what ideas do you have about how we could help new people learn
facilitation? Idea to put in our budget for next year, $500 for a process
focused training, that way we could pay someone to organize the material
and present, perhaps one session for facilitators and one for regular
participants?
MONKEY: all please respond about our next committee meeting dates
3. Next Work Season and being on Process cmtee
Its time to adjust any process jobs as needed, and to contact the folks
currently in roles, to see their interest in continuing, which includes us

Archivist - Gail
MONKEY: Jillian will check in with Gail.
Being on Process cmtee. Process cmtee members should be process-oriented
people, who are interested in meeting process and who want to proactively
support GO in using consensus. We don't have to be experts, and, having
that interest in meeting process is the key thing, and making the effort to
take that interest to next steps. Other important things are attending
community meetings whenever possible since we are overall responsible for
the meetings (and this helps us keep up on what's going on topic-wise and
meeting-process-wise, plus we are presenting some times), reading and
responding to email, and being part of the committee meetings and helping
the committee see how to keep fulfilling its mission each season.
Vasi and Jillian talked about being on Process and why and being part of
the work. Vasi is interested in facilitation and loves helping with process
thinking, so this is an area she'd like to stay grow in to, she would like
to be part of the committee and get more involved in process work and
community meetings. Vasi and Jillian can talk with Elisha about her
interest and preference about continuing or no, hopefully at our next
meeting, or some other time before that if the work survey will be nearly
done by then.
4. Refreshing Policy Moment this summer
What agreements do you think it would be useful to go over at a community
meeting this summer?
Do you know how to get to the book of agreements? It's at www.gocoho.org/my
and then follow the book of agreements link. Most of them are public, if
you want to see the private version just log in at the top.
We looked through the Book of Agreements at ones that jumped out at us, as
perhaps being timely for the July 20 meeting:
Parking agreement
Workshop operating rules
Communication pathway
I think we've talked about the communication pathway fairly recently, but
it has been a lot longer for parking and workshop. Workshop has active
members (Ted is honcho I think). We could ask workshop folks to present
their agreement on 7/20 as an idea?
And if they're not available one of us could present Parking?
Who of us would like to and be available to check in with Ted re a workshop
refreshing policy moment, and if yes then email Helen for 10 minutes on the
7/20 agenda? And if not then email Helen about presenting Parking? Jillian
is out of town 7/10 through the evening of 7/19, so could do it in a pinch
on 7/20 but it'd be great if someone else can.
MONKEY: all look at 7/20 refreshing policy moment and who could take these
next steps.
Is there a document about renters and community meetings - to make sure
renters know they are encouraged to participate, the only restriction is
around not blocking financial decisions, that's it.
5. August alternative meeting
The first-Wednesday alternative meeting in August (Aug 5) could be for
Process education. What do you think would be useful to do at a community
meeting, for people to learn more about how consensus works or how
facilitation works?
We also got an email about this:
CRC has been dealing with an issue of how community members respond to
committees on e-mail. There have been some contentious moments and a
feeling that there is some disrespect and push back to committees on what
they are doing and how they 'should' be doing things. Is there some way we
can address e-mail tone and style during the August alternative meeting?
Just one idea, Talking circle idea about how people are feeling about
committee work. People can share their experience. Might be too broad for
the email topic - is it more focused on email etiquette, or more focused on
the nature of committee work and committee communication?
MONKEY: Jillian will email facilitators too about the August 5th meeting,
see if we can perhaps make a get-together happen to talk about what we can
do on August 5.
6. Training more facilitators
It would be good for our committee to put more energy in to helping new
facilitators learn so they can be part of the facilitation group.
MONKEY: what ideas do you have about how we could help new people learn
facilitation? Idea to put in our budget for next year, $500 for a process
focused training, that way we could pay someone to organize the material
and present, perhaps one session for facilitators and one for regular
participants?
7. Next meeting
Just to toss in some dates to get us started, 7/23, 7/27, 7/29, 7/30?
--end--
