MONKEYS

ONGOING MONKEY:
Bringing chocolate for meetings:
Oct: Becky H
Nov: Jillian
Dec: Gail

Should we keep trying to advertise the community library? We asked for
suggestions, we got one for nonviolent communication, which we already have
resources for. When I look for resources on things like, hoop houses, a lot
of it is online rather than in print. And we do get communities magazine.
We do have good books up there, how to creatively remind people of what we
have.
MONKEY: Gail will keep in mind, that we could do a 10 minute show and tell
at a meeting, pass around books.

COOLER: We could bring up at a community meeting, the idea of if we should
talk about how we each want to be contacted on community business, and see
what people think about it. So many options now for how to be contacted,
and some people seem to only use certain modes, would be good to know.
Maybe add it to contact sheet?

MONKEY: Gail will enter a lunch for Saturday in the meals system.

MONKEY: Jillian will check in with Sarah about CPR/First aid training if
she can send out a reminder.

MONKEY: Becky H will confirm with Mary 10 to 12:30 on Saturday and ask for
more info on the agenda items, we can do so via email or in person or both.
Will ask too which parts kids would be involved in.

MONKEY: Jillian will email talk about the overall schedule.

MONKEY: Elisha will order food from Chela's.

Skills and Thrills

Three parts in play right now for Sat and Sun Nov 8 and 9, 2014. Street art
planning, copper art enameling art project, and first aid/CPR/defib
training.

Saturday morning. $75/hour, 2 to 3 hours for Mary Theifels of Treetown
Murals.
10 to 12:30 for Mary Theifels
then lunch
1:30-3:30 art project all ages. Bob, friend of Becky and Dale's. Bob gave
Becky a 5 minute demo and then stuff to play with. Becky and family all
played with the materials - copper enameling - thin pieces of copper and
powdered glass and tiny kilns that melt the glass.

Bob has dies for butterflies and maple leafs and we can do squares and
circles. We can also bring in copper snips for people to cut their own
shapes. But the cutting would need parent supervision. The premade shapes
we can have holes in already. Kids can decorate on a tray and we put it in
the kiln and it heats in 2 minutes, cools in 5 minutes, and then you can
take it back and add another color. People who want to make fancy things
can spend a lot of time building and layering, and those who want something
simple can just do one color etc.

Other shapes? Circles, squares, triangles, butterfly, a leaf. Oak leaves or
acorns? That'd be really fun to have oak leaves and/or acorns and then have
people go out and hang them on trees.

Copper is donated, we will need to buy the glass. People can hang them out
in the trees and on their front porch. We could end the day by having
people go outside and hang them. Gail has fishing line.

How many colors? Depends a bit on how much money we have left from Red
Cross workshop. How much notice do we need about the colors? 2 weeks.

Sunday afternoon, CPR/first aid training. We need a reminder to go out
about the meals signup and then we'll know how much money we have.

Mary T sent a very brief agenda:
Agenda:
Introductions / icebreaker
TTM mural presentation
Mural visioning - theme
Location selection
Design time / art activity
Wrap up discussion - plan for spring mural

Breakfast and lunch we have not assigned yet
Roles:
Breakfast - making coffee, buying bagels
Lunch - last year we did Chela's and people liked it. Taco bar you could
order 3 fillings.

MONKEY: Gail will enter a lunch for Saturday in the meals system.

For sunday might be nice to have apples and cider and coffee. Donuts? Donut
holes from Meijers.

How about childcare? Zuvuya might be interested, with Annaliese? Might be
good to have a sense of how many kids we will have.

For now would be good to make an initial inquiry to Annaliese and Zuvuya
about their availability those two days.

Adi said that Touchstone uses the meals system for childcare signup.

MONKEY: Jillian will email talk about the overall schedule.

Next meeting: probably in the next couple weeks to do any final prep for
Skills and Thrills.
