Meals minutes: 2013-05-01

Minutes:

The GO Meals Committee met on Tuesday, April 23, at 6:45 pm, in the sitting
room.

Food Allergies Report: Debbi sent out a request to GO members for food
allergies that cooks should be aware of. There were no new allergies in the
responses she received. We no longer have a member who is allergic to peanuts.
The list will be posted in the kitchen.

There was one response that was concerned with alcohol at meals. We will send
out a reminder of the alcohol policy.

Work Day Tasks: Reorganizing of kitchen cupboards and Mary's kitchen tutorial
are the tasks that have been requested. Mary is only able to offer the tutorial
on May 19. Debbi reports that the sign up book should be available on May 1.

More about Storage: Tammy had offered to investigate possibilities for
additional storage units at Ikea. We have had no report from her.

Local Food Information: KatieZ, who had been assigned the job for the Spring
2013 season, has moved out of the community. Gail emailed the members who had
given positive preferences on the work survey about taking on some of the task.
Jillian has said she could work on the Farmers' Market section after the end of
June. A list of area Farmer's Markets has recently appeared in AnnArbor.com.
This gives a good beginning on the job. We still want to gather information on
standard grocery stores.

Financial Report. Kathy reported that cash balance was $500.00 at end of
March. The financial picture is looking better at this time. A number of
accounts have not yet been paid in April but typically these are paid before the
end of the month.

Other Business:

Picky Eater Food. Committee discussed this issue again. We continue to believe
that cheese sticks and carrots should not be bought with staples money.
Individual cooks may choose to buy them or other kid-friendly food for their
meals.


Griddle. Mary reported that one of the griddles is not working and that the
other has a loose connection which makes it hit or miss. We approved spending
up to $50.00 to purchase a new griddle.

We said goodbye to Nancy who is leaving the committee. Hope will be joining as
a counted member in May.

The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 28, at 7:00 pm.
