GO Cooks email list - Gail brought a draft message to be sent to go-talk about
the proposed email list. Wording was approved and Gail will send out the
message. Any head cooks not currently on the meals email list will be added
before the first of January. Committee members will need to think about
messages the committee might want to send.
We had learned that the work survey did not include all the meals planned for
this season and that 4 meals will need to be cancelled. The committee proposed
cancelling Jan. 31 (a 5th Thursday) and April 30 (a 5th Tuesday) as well as the
last two meals in April (the 28th & 29th). The committee will post requests for
workers for two meals, expecting that volunteers will step forward. Please
note: that on the advice of the meals scheduler the two meals to be cancelled
in April will be Thursday, April 25 and Monday April 29. There are sufficient
Sunday meals workers.
Salad Dressing Issue - a request was made to the committee that more organic
salad dressing be available. Newman's Own and Annie's are two brands that
might be purchased. Shopper is already buying some of these dressings. We
discussed having a standard purchasing agreement about salad dressings. Debbi
remembered that such a listing for a variety of items was available in the
past. Nancy will see if she can find it in the materials that were passed along
to her when she took on the job of shopper. It was also decided that storing
the reserve supply of dressings in the cupboard over the refrigerator is
awkward.
Debbi agreed to come up with a short list of questions about food preferences
that can be sent to the community. She also agreed to try to update the food
allergies list.
More about storage - We continue to look for cabinets that might be purchased to
provide more storage space. Debbi suggested a work day project to sort through
the cupboards, especially those under the small sink, and reorganize storage.
For example, extra salad dressings and condiments could be stored in that area
and paper goods that are used less frequently stored over the refrigerator.
Larger and more clearer signs would also be a help.
We are short of casserole dishes. Debbi will try to stop in Howell to purchase
two replacements.
Other business - The Sunward Meals Committee sent a request asking for
information on the GO use of TS workers in the meal system. A response was sent
explaining the original agreement and the reasons the program was discontinued.
Next meeting - no date was set for the next committee meeting. Debbi asked that
if meetings are on the nights that there are community meals they start at 6:45
so that members who are dining have time to finish their meals.
