MAKING CUTS TO THE 2013 PROCESS BUDGET - It was suggested at the Oct.
3rdcmty mtg that Process try to cut some from the 2013 budget, as
other cmtees
are doing. Suggestions at the cmty mtg were that a $200 cut be made to the
Skills & Thrills budget line, and that a cut be made to the Member
Resources line.

Budget fits into several categories – “Skills & Thrills,” “supplies”
(Archives and Display), and “Member Resources”. We think we can cut back
in all. Cut $50 from Archives, $50 from Display, $100 from Member
Resources, and “borrow” funds from line to line, if needed. Because we are
hosting FIC we get, as payment, a free facilitation (from Laird), Skills &
Thrills will not cost as much as it often does in 2013, so we can cut
$200.

Let’s guess what this year’s S&T is going to cost, let cmty know that this
is going to be an inexpensive S&T, but it won’t always be that way. We’ll
probably be able to rebate $900 from S&T from the 2012 budget.

MONKEY: Becky will let Adi and Mary know budget cuts we are proposing.

MONKEY: Gail will send an email to the cmty about what “Member Resources”
can be used for (training, books, etc.)

FIC HOSTING – FIC board members arrive 10/29; their meetings are the
30ththrough Nov. 2
nd. Breakfasts and

lunches will be at Sunward, dinners at Great Oak. Our understanding is
that cmty members are welcome at any FIC mtg. There will also be some
evening activities where cmty members can interact with FIC folks – e.g.,
movies and discussion. Syndallas and Fatima are planning something for Day
of the Dead (Nov. 2nd) at GO. MONKEY: Syndallas will talk to Nancy Stryker
about whether or not it would be feasible for FIC board and Sunward to take
part in this.

All aspects of planning have honchos – Sunward meals: Nancy Stryker; GO
dinners honchoed by Jillian, already in meals system; housing: Mary King,
with Margaret Flannery assisting; transportation: Sarah Ross, with Becky
Hoort assisting; films: Jim Crowfoot. Next meeting of the planning group
is 3 pm, Oct. 20, unit 30 at Sunward (Margaret Flannery’s) for tea and
cookies (bring your own cookies).

SKILLS AND THRILLS

Schedule

Saturday, Nov. 10th

9:30: coffee, bagels, etc.; 10:00-12:00: Len Pytlak, CPA,

“Financial Basics for Great Oak’s Board Members”; 12-1:

Lunch; 1-3:Kathryn Greiner (UM Credit Union): “Budget! Are You Kidding?”;
Syndallas is working on evening activities. Diwali probably won’t happen,
but she is double checking.

MONKEY: If no Diwali, Syndallas will talk to Megan about a dance event (we
can pay Megan), with a dessert potluck before. Karaoke is another idea.

Sunday, Nov. 11th

Afternoon: Caleb Lange on forgoing the American dream to help people in
need in places such as India and Southeast Asia;

Afternoon: Games involving money/finances for children and adults,
organized by Eric McGlohon; Syndallas is interested in working with kids on
financing a swing set; another idea is inviting kids to bring old toys and
sell to each other. Selling toys would happen during the games. Swing set
discussion could be after Caleb speaks.

MONKEY: Syndallas will advise Process by the end of the week if swing set
financing and toy sale activities will take place.

Other tasks:

Who is communicating with each presenter – Amy?

MONKEY: Becky will check with Amy about this and if any supplies needed
beyond what we normally have in stock.

MONKEY: Gail will do a supply check and purchase more easel flip pads.

MONKEY: Email publicity – Becky

MONKEY: Flyers – Jillian

Saturday breakfast buying, prep and clean-up – Becky H.

Saturday lunch ordering, pick-up and clean-up –Syndallas: MONKEY: Syndallas
will get prices from Jerusalem Garden and Star’s Cafe

Child care – Alan and Jessica; MONKEY: Becky will remind Alan and
Jessica

Any facilitation needed? Syndallas will ask Sarah for help with

swing set session, if it happens; Syndallas will facilitate

toy sale, if it happens.

MATTERS ARISING It would be good to reinstitute “Refreshing Policy
Moments.” These kept getting pushed off the cmty mtg agendas. Maybe some
of these could be done as email. MONKEY: Syndallas will check with Susan
about presenting something at a cmty mtg about CRC.

NEXT MEETING – Tuesday, Nov. 13, 6:30; then meet 3rd Tuesdays, 6:30.
