*TouchStone: No report yet on mediation agreement.*
* [Note: Gail, as GO ambassador, will be attending the next TS steering
meeting, on Monday the 10th.*

*Parking: Last winter, Jillian and Amy were asked to meet with Jane about
her concerns. Jane has now requested further discussion about how she might
proceed.*

*Steering Budget for "critical needs" - This has historically been $2000
p.a. with any unused money being included in rebates. So far in 2011, we
have not tapped this fund, but there may be requests coming. We are
requesting that next year's community budget include this same amount for
Steering.*

*COMMITTEE REPORTS:*

*Meals {Debbi] - intends to hang a potrack, perhaps on a pulley, in the
kitchen.*

*Process [Gail] - "Skills & Thrills" weekend is scheduled for the 2nd
weekend in November. Saturday's topic will be "Leaders and helping
leaders." Diane Kardia is being invited to serve as outside facilitator.
Saturday evening: folk dancing. Sunday hands-on project: building
birdhouses.*

*Common House [Jim} - Lowes on Tuesday will install new carpet and padding
in the sitting room, media room, and guest room. Later, another firm will
put in wool carpet in the front half of the kids' room, with the back part
left as tiles. Wood flooring will be installed in the game room at the end
of the month, by Jeff, with help from other GO members.*
* - We have been told that TouchStone may decide to discontinue its
rental of an office, while continuing to use the rest of the Common House.
If this does happen, our CH committee expects to advertise it as being
available for rent to any of our members. We are aware that there have been
suggestions for good alternative uses of this space; but any such
alternative must have an advocate to develop and carry forward a proposal.*

*Work [Becky] - The 1st community workday, on Saturday the 1st, went very
well, with Patti as honcho; there was a large turnout and a great deal
accomplished. Debbi will honcho the 2nd workday, on the 22nd.*
* - The committee is preparing the next work season survey.*
* - The committee is preparing for further community discussions on work
requirements, and how assignments can be modified.*

*Membership [Catherine] - Looking again at how effectively to provide a
"buddy" for new members of the community. This may need to become a position
in the work system, with hours credited for doing it.*

*Grounds [Rod] - There has been interest in building another staircase, so
as to provide access to the back entrances of units on the north side.
Finding a good solution involves both safety and costs, as well as the
long-term overall design of the community's physical layout.*
* - May need to revisit the agreement between Great Oak and TouchStone
on recycling costs. It does appear that the $700 p.a. which TouchStone now
pays is approximately half of the total annual cost for this service, so the
dollar amounts may remain the same. Need also to check how the billing is
done between the 2 communities.*
