2. MONKEYS

MONKEY: Jillian to add job description/checklist for support role of
Alternative Meeting Leaders, maybe to facilitator job description or to the
Process section of the Wiki page. (see notes 1/4/2011)
MONKEY: Patti will provide Infoco with the facilitation training info she
has.
MONKEY: We'll pick one or two of these facilitation chunks at our next
meeting and write out what the pieces are.
MONKEY: Jillian will put another call before the next work season that we're
looking for new facils.
MONKEY: Jillian will email Work committee about the idea to discuss work
solution ideas at a community meeting but not a specific proposal on the
floor yet.
MONKEY: Elph will put the question of presenting information about parking,
what is the current agreement and why - what were all the issues balanced by
that agreement, to Grounds and see if Grounds is willing to present, since
they have done the most thinking about parking and are likely most familiar
with the nuances.
MONKEY: Did not get to this, but next meeting we will read through our
mandate. Need to revise and bring it back to the communty.

3. May 4 meeting on the Solar Proposal
Spent some time discussing the plan for the meeting with Mary and Carl, all
feel good about it. Tammy is facilitator. Elph and Jillian can be support
for the first 20 minutes, Patti after that.

4. Teaching and archiving docs

We discussed Elph's old monkey a bit of "proposing some solutions for the
ongoing document management, collaboration, and creation needs." Elph and
Alex have been involved, but Adi is mainly working on this. Cross linking,
indexing, accessibility, archiving etc. are issues involved.

We discussed the old monkey of creating a Facilitation powerpoint. We have a
brief powerpoint for Intro to Consensus. But that's a different animal to do
something as complex as facilition training...

Discussion about how to attract new facilitators. Committee meetings over
dinner in someone's house as fun to go to, we socialize as well as do
committee business, and have tried to do learning exercises as part of our
monthly agendas, keep training ourselves, although lately that has fallen by
the wayside. How to make it appealing and clear that its open to new people.
And how to make it learnable!

Chunk the goal out into pieces maybe? Pieces/tools that are useful to
facilitators?
These could be on cards, powerpoint, PDF docs etc.

Brainstorm of pieces of facilitation that coudl be "chunkable":

- meeting prep/logistics
- calling the question - what are the five things to say when getting ready
to ask for consenus
- quorum
- how to deal with emotion (bring out the posters (emotional input))
- naming names in the discussion of someone who is not there
- stacking or not stacking - discussion management
- anatomy of a monkey - we often leave them off - due date, who's
responsible
- timekeeping - planning the agenda, time managment - eg doing a warning
before the topic time is done etc
- roles and duties of the presenter - prep, presentation with a range of
methods, and then presenter can sit down and participate

MONKEY: We'll pick one or two of these facilitation chunks at our next
meeting and write out what the pieces are.

MONKEY: Jillian will put another call before the next work season that we're
looking for new facils.

5. May 16 meeting.

Facils will be Jillian and Patti. So far we have heard we may have two
proposals.

One from Meals about possibility eliminiating a meal every other week.

One from Work about community review/approval of work hours. Discussion
about that. Concern that the best next step in the process may not be a
specific propsal, that may just create anxiety and blocking energy - do we
need to flesh out where we're at and focus disussion on a range of solution
ideas, some could be generated from the floor, before a specific solution
proposal comes to the floor.
MONKEY: Jillian will email Work committee about the idea to discuss work
solution ideas at a community meeting but not a specific proposal on the
floor yet.

6. Parking
Amy for Steering eailed and asked our opinion about a Parking
informational/discussion item coming to a community meeting, since we
haven't discussed it in so many years. Many people don't know all the
complexities of the situation and all that was balanced in what went in to
the current agreement. Would be useful to lay it all out. Seems like a fine
idea to us.

Discussed perspectives on the issue, ways to look at it. Idea that the
community doesn't have a parking issue necessarily, not going into it with
the idea that the parking agreement is "broken" and needs to be redone. But
rather looking at the squeeze points felt by individuals and the way they
are experiencing parking and issues we did not anticipate that need to be
added/addressed.

MONKEY: Elph will put the question of presenting information about parking,
what is the current agreement and why - what were all the issues balanced by
that agreement, to Grounds and see if Grounds is willing to present, since
they have done the most thinking about parking and are likely most familiar
with the nuances.

7. Infoco mandate
MONKEY: Did not get to this, but next meeting we will read through our
mandate. Need to revise and bring it back to the communty.

8. Next meeting
Infoco meets on First Tuesdays, 6:5-8pm, BYO dinner, all welcome. Our next
meeting is June 7.
