Meals minutes: 2010-07-27

Minutes:

*Meal Minutes*

7/27/20

· Kathy brought up-to-date financial information. One member has a
$900 credit, which we think has some serious policy considerations. If a
member with a large credit were to move out unexpectedly, we would have to
pay out the entire credit in one lump sum, which could create a cash flow
problem (because we may spend some of the money being held as a
“credit”). Kathy
will talk to the household directly, and ask them to give us at least 60
days notice if they plan to cash out the credit as a lump sum.

· Meals currently has a total outstanding debt from diners over $650.
*Kathy* will research how much of that debt is from households who are more
than 60 days in arrears.

· Kathy distributed an itemized report that showed the income and
expenditures from the Meals account in July. There were significant
expenditures reported but it was only because the Shopper turned in receipts
for several months. Even with that, the account ended with almost $2,200,
which was only $500 less than the beginning balance. We will continue to
track, and will have a better idea of the cash flow and expenditures in a
few months.

· Debbi is requesting that the Shopper job be assigned under Meals
rather than CH. Currently the Shopper purchases an average of 4x as much
for Meals–related items as CH. In addition, Meals will soon have a debit
card, which could be used by the Shopper to make purchases (which would
require direct accountability to Meals). In the future, the Shopper job
description should include the expectation that he/she attend the Meals
meetings and receive 1 hour/mo additional work credit, starting with the
January work season.

· There have been some complaints about the grease stains on the porch
from the grill. *Debbi* will purchase a special grill matt to protect the
concrete.

· There have been complaints about the CH freezer not keeping things
frozen. *Kathy* will ask Elph where we are in the replacement cycle. *
Debbi* will purchase a thermometer and check the readings over the next
month.

· *Debbi* will write up instructions for the Hobart. Dale has agreed
to laminate a single page of instructions and put by it by the dishwasher.

· *Mary* will ask Dale if he can make more, new little dry erase boards
for the kitchen.

· Meals discussed our responsibility for cancelled meals.

· Meals would like to begin a community discussion about the Meals
program overall – reduced attendance, cancelled meals, difficulty in getting
menus posted in advance, reduced adults available to do work for the
community. Meals will request an Alternative Meeting date for the Fall work
season to begin the discussion. *Debbi* will make something yummy as an
incentive to attend!

· Nancy priced smaller rice cookers – around $40 at Meijer.
*Nancy*will purchase one for cooks who are interested in cooking 2
kinds of rice
for their meals.

*Next meeting – Tuesday, August 24th from 7-8pm in the CH Sitting Room*
