> Minutes of InfoCo Meeting
>
> 5-4-10
>
> Present: Jim, Mary, Jillian, Elph, Gail, Amy, Alicia, Malcolm, Langston
>
>
>
> 1. Check-in re: 5-5-10 Alternative Meeting
>
>
>
> Tammy is leading a food-centered meeting. It is well organized so Jim
> will just be on “fetch-and-carry” duty. Jillian is subbing to do minutes.
>
>
>
> 2. Check-in re: 5-17-10 Business Meeting
>
>
>
> Alicia and Mary are convening. The major 45-minute agenda item will be
> about the Reserve Study, presented by F&L.
>
>
> Two parts to the meeting: 1) Education; 2) Discuss revisions.
>
>
>
> EDUCATION PIECE: What the Reserve Fund Is and Is Not
>
>
>
> MONKEY: Amy will send out Reserve Study for advance review. This is the
> document we’ve been using for three years. Amy will encourage people to
> focus on reading the beginning and end of the document and just scan the
> photos in the middle as time permits. Amy will invite members to send her
> questions in advance, and we’ll do our best to get written answers put
> together in a handout. This will NOT be a discussion on e-mail.
>
>
>
> At the meeting, provide time for additional questions.
>
>
>
> REVISIONS
>
> It’s time to revise this document. Elph requested and received some
> feedback from committees, but also heard a strong request for input before
> the study is taken very far.
>
>
>
> Why revise?
>
> There will be some changes in the math equations and we will be paying Paul
> to do this. These changes will be based on several years of real data. We
> have a sense of what the real rate of inflation has been and what we really
> spent, and when.
>
>
>
> We may also want to add/delete/change items, such as new things that have
> been built, things we’ve forgotten, and things we didn’t consider before,
> such as the washers and dryers. Invite people to generate new ideas
> about what we should put money away for that are not currently doing.
>
>
>
> There may be ideas that we can get general agreement on, though not
> consense on yet. Similar to the budget, where we chunk things up, and
> agree on many pieces before there is a final full decision.
>
>
>
> Also on the agenda:
>
>
>
> Catherine asked for 10 minutes to welcome Kate Long as a new member and
> Alan Vasquez as a new teen member. This could be the icebreaker. No
> one wanted to add any additional agenda items.
>
>
>
>
>
> 3. Future topics for InfoCo
>
>
>
> - How facilitators can deal with emotion and conflict during
> meetings. How to be an ally with someone in a minority position. We have
> some materials on this.
>
> - Facilitator training for more people in the community. What is
> next step? Do training ourselves? Hire someone?
>
> - Could InfoCo put together a brief training on consensus
> decision-making and offer it to new members? We have a lot of new members
> now, and we offer very little training for new members. We could assist
> Membership with this. Committees could each do their part. Maybe once a
> quarter. Or maybe do half the sessions one quarter and the other half the
> next quarter. If curriculum is developed, anyone on the committee could
> do it. Membership is working on revising the buddy system.
>
>
>
> MONKEY: Amy will send the Prospective Member Packet to Infoco. Put this
> on our agenda for the next meeting.
>
>
>
>
>
> 4. Matters arising.
>
>
>
> Process meets next week on Monday instead of Tuesday.
>
>
>
> Future comty meeting agendas: Willie has a 40-minute presentation planned
> about GO On Line Resources.
>
>
>
> 5. Future meetings
>
>
>
> First Tuesdays at about 6:20 (bring your dinner).
